Hoburne has been awarded Volunteer Team of the year at Diverse Abilities’ annual ‘Thank You’ Awards.
As its nominated charity of the year, Hoburne Group Support, and Hoburne Park in Christchurch have been organising various fundraising initiatives and volunteer activities to raise awareness and funding for Dorset’s disability charity.
With support from its staff, friends, owners and holidaymakers, Hoburne has so far raised more than £5,000 for Diverse Abilities through various charity fundraisers including bake sales, car washes, ‘dress down Fridays’ and quiz evenings.
Keen to cement its dedication further, a corporate volunteer day was organised with the charity during the summer. The volunteers worked tirelessly during a hot and challenging day to help transform the garden at ‘Coping with Chaos,’ the Diverse Ability service based in West Moors.
Commenting on the award win, Hoburne chairman, Rosie Kennar said: “We understand the immense pressure local charities face, and we were keen to volunteer our time to help Diverse Abilities where possible.
“Team members at different levels from across the company volunteered their time and we arrived armed with gardening tools to help tidy the garden. We had a brilliant day, and not only did we help Diverse Abilities, but as a team, it was a fantastic opportunity to socialise outside of work and to get to know each other better.
“We knew the parents of CHAOS had expressed that the garden was unloved and that their children needed a safe environment to play outside. As a business, Hoburne is focused on offering families and children an enjoyable, safe environment, and we are delighted that we have been able to help create a place that children can enjoy.”
All the funds raised by Hoburne go directly to Diverse Abilities where they will be used to continue the vital services the disability charity provides to adults and children in its care.
