Humphries Kirk Sponsors Dorset Opera Festival For Fourth Consecutive Year

Leading Dorset and Somerset law firm Humphries Kirk is sponsoring the Dorset Opera Festival at the end of July.

The festival is held over five days in July at Bryanston School in Blandford, starting on Tuesday July 24 and running until Saturday July 28. Dorset Opera began in 1974 but grew into a festival in 2011 and has since become a firm favourite in the opera calendar. It is now recognised as the home of country house opera in south west England.

Humphries Kirk is a leading sponsor of the festival and joint sponsor of the Patrons’ Marquee and Lounge with Duke’s Auctioneers. This year marks the law firm’s fourth year of consecutive sponsorship for Dorset Opera.

Katharine Jones, senior partner at Humphries Kirk, commented: “Having such a high calibre festival in Dorset is a rare treat as it brings international opera stars right to our doorstep. We’re pleased to be in a position to sponsor the festival for a fourth time and are passionate about supporting events that further enhance the cultural life of our county.”

Opera stars from around the world will join a chorus and a full orchestra to present La bohème and Le Cid. La bohème by Puccini (25-28 July) will be sung in Italian with English surtitles and tells the tale of young bohemians living in the Latin Quarter of Paris at Christmas. The opera focuses on the relationship between Rodolfo, the young poet and Mimi, the seamstress.

Le Cid by Massenet (24-28 July) will be sung in French with English surtitles. It tells a tale of vengeance, murder and a love story between Rodrigue and Chimène.
Dorset Opera Festival artistic director, Roderick Kennedy, said: “We’re always grateful to Humphries Kirk for their continued support. Their long-standing enthusiasm and sponsorship of the festival is hugely appreciated.”

Humphries Kirk provides legal expertise to private and commercial clients, with offices in Dorchester, Crewkerne, Wareham, Swanage, Poole, Parkstone, Bournemouth and London as well and an international network of lawyers. Visit www.hklaw.eu for further information.
