Morebus backs NHS Dorset’s popular Walk for Wards event

Morebus is showing its support for University Dorset Hospitals NHS Charity’s Walk for Wards event.

The popular flagship fundraising event will be taking place at the spectacular Upton Country Park on Saturday 14 October 2023.

Morebus head of communications, Nikki Honer, said: “We are keen to help raise as much awareness as possible for this very worthy cause. Many of our team have close links to the charity and we all need our local hospitals so this event  is a great chance for us to support our local NHS staff and their patients.

“The event is a fantastic family occasion – giving local people the opportunity to walk for a ward or department of their choice and raise funds through sponsorship while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Upton House.

“There is a choice of a 5km or 10km route – or people can opt for the family-friendly 3km course, if they’re looking for something a little more gentle.

“On behalf of everybody at Morebus, we can’t think of a better way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon this autumn, than to spend it supporting this vital community resource.

“Morebus is promoting the event on social media and via Next Stop Announcement screens on-board our buses – and we’re encouraging those taking part to travel with us to Upton House. Several of our routes stop at, or close to, the country park – so there is plenty of opportunity to leave the car at home and travel more sustainably to the event.”

Walk for Wards is a fun-filled day, giving participants the chance to raise much-needed funds for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity. Upton Country Park and House serves as a beautiful backdrop to the day – which is also packed with food, shopping and entertainment. Dogs are welcome too.

Corporate fundraiser, Hayley Harris from University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, said: “It is great to have the support of local businesses like Morebus for our charity events because we know there is so much more we can do for our hospitals when we can bring our local community together. And if we can give people fun days out to enjoy while they fundraise, even better. We are looking forward to seeing as many people there as possible walking with us for our hospitals.”
