Scrum down! Bridge Health & Wellbeing becomes official sponsor at Christchurch Rugby Club

Bridge Health & Wellbeing, based on Bridge Street in Christchurch, Dorset, is delighted to have become a key sponsor at Christchurch Rugby Club.

Situated by the East Christchurch Sports & Social Club on Grange Road, the club re-launched in 2019 and welcomes rugby players of all abilities.

Bridge Health & Wellbeing begun providing physiotherapy services for club players in 2019, including injury support and rehabilitation. As the 2020/2021 season begins, Bridge Health & Wellbeing have increased their involvement with the club by becoming a key sponsor.

Paul O’Connell, physiotherapist and co-founder of Bridge Health & Wellbeing said: “My dad was rugby mad. So, when we moved to Fordingbridge in the early 1980s he set up the rugby club there. Dad sadly passed away in 2010, but we are still involved with the club as honorary Vice Presidents. I was keen to get involved with the local rugby club when we opened our wellness centre on Bridge Street, Christchurch. I am sure my dad would be proud of us keeping the family rugby tradition alive.”

Club secretary Don Lynaghan commented: “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Bridge Health & Wellbeing into our new season following the generous support they provided last year. Paul got in touch with us shortly after we started up in 2019 with a view to assisting our members and helping a local community sports team. A few of our players have met with Paul and sought his services and guidance already. Following assessment, Paul referred one of our players to get a scan done which identified a more significant injury than initially thought. As a result, he is now taking the right course of action to get the injury properly treated.

Injury prevention, correctly identifying injuries and rehabilitation is important to participants of all sports, at all levels. We’re very fortunate to have the expertise of Paul, Louise and the team at Bridge Health & Wellbeing not only 5 minutes down the road in Purewell, but so closely aligned with the club and supporting us in moving forward. Anything we can do to improve the safety and longevity in playing for our members is of utmost importance. Bridge Health & Wellbeing are the perfect partners to help in the promotion of this and to support our teams moving forward.”

Alison Brencher of the club added, “It is an absolute pleasure to welcome Paul & Louise from Bridge Health & Wellbeing as a new sponsor for the club, and I really look forward to working alongside them.”

A return to rugby is now well underway, with training on the pitch at least three times a week and games soon to be back on Saturdays. You can keep up to date with the club’s activities by following their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/ChristchurchRugbyClub.
