Semi Finalists Announced For New Sustainable Dorset Venus Award, Sponsored By Tops Day Nurseries!

During a ceremony at held at Mercedes Benz in Poole, the semi-finalists for this year’s Dorset Venus Awards were announced, 5 of which were for the brand new Sustainability Award.

The Sustainability Award Category was created and sponsored by Tops Day Nurseries. It is brand new to the Dorset awards, and would not have been introduced if it wasn’t for the influence of previous Venus Lifetime Award winner and managing director of Tops Day Nurseries, Cheryl Hadland.

“It is so important to recognise and promote the sustainability efforts of businesses as they help to shape the community. At Tops Day Nurseries we believe in an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible world for all. We know that we are not the only ones who believe this but the sustainability efforts of businesses aren’t publicised as much as we think they should be. By creating this award category we are hoping to shine a light on the sustainability efforts of others and give them the recognition they deserve.

I met with the award semi-finalists during the celebration evening, each of whom has made a tremendous impact on sustainability in their own different ways.”

The finalists are made up of local business women:

Julie Woodward from BeeWrap UK. BeeWrap UK is about changing people’s perception on the way they live and to make no nonsense zero waste wraps to reduce our use of single use plastics and the impact they are having on our environment and wildlife

Lynda Daniels from Southern Sustainability. In 2016 Lynda’s team created a unique Expo for the region, focussed on B2B environmental management. 2017 they added an annual conference, private and public sector support service, green supplier hub and training.

Jo Spragg from Kite Clothing. Kite Clothing is a planet-friendly clothing brand for children from 0-11 years old. Every garment we design and make is packed with original and thoughtful details, manufactured to the highest quality, and produced with the lowest environmental impact.
