Shelter Dorset receives thousands from local holiday park

Shelter Dorset has received a donation of more than £7,000 from the team at Hoburne Naish following a year of fundraising.

Each year, the holiday park based at Barton On Sea clifftop chooses a local charity to support and holds numerous fundraisers for employees, holiday homeowners and holidaymakers to enjoy. Fundraising has been led by the park’s entertainment team and included family fun days, bingo evenings and race nights.

Hoburne Holidays also supported the charity through a holiday booking donation scheme. The company donated £1 to Shelter Dorset for every holiday booked during 2019.

Shelter Dorset offers a wide range of help and advice on all housing and homelessness issues. Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through advice, support and legal services.

Commenting on the donation, Hoburne Naish general manager, Neil Sykes said: “We initially set ourselves a target to raise £3,000 for Shelter Dorset, so to more than double the amount raised is a huge achievement and we would like to thank everyone who has supported us and generously donated. Knowing that this money will help make a difference to alleviate the distress caused by homelessness and bad housing make it all worthwhile.”

These funds will help Shelter Dorset to continue working to support people experiencing housing crisis such as street homelessness or eviction, as well as households struggling with housing costs or poor-quality homes.
