Solicitors are LawCare stars at Christmas

A regional law firm is shining a light on mental health and wellbeing by joining in a major festive fundraiser.

Ellis Jones Solicitors is giving the gift of emotional support through the legal sector’s LawCare charity in a Big Give Christmas Challenge.

Proceeds donated to charities taking part in the initiative are match funded via The Big Give through a network of philanthropists, private individuals and the public.

Ellis Jones – with more than 160 staff and 19 Partners – supports LawCare all the year round but decided to contribute to the festive fundraiser too.

Nigel Smith, Ellis Jones’ Managing Partner, said: “The greatest asset of any organisation is its people.

“LawCare’s mental health and wellbeing support for the legal profession has never been more vital with the pressure of the pandemic taking its toll.

“We are fully behind LawCare and are pleased to donate £250, which will be match funded to £500 to continue this important work.”

Associate Solicitor Maria Evans works closely with LawCare and its chief executive Elizabeth Rimmer.

The charity provides counselling, emotional support, a confidential helpline, training and information but also campaigns for greater awareness and change.

Elizabeth said: “Our thanks go to Ellis Jones Solicitors for all of its support.

“This donation will enable people in the legal profession to access the help they need while allowing us to challenge the stigma that surrounds speaking up about mental health.”

Ellis Jones supports a number of charities, clubs and good causes. Recently they have included arts charity Vita Nova, Lewis Manning Hospice Care, Walk for Wards, the BC Club, Variety Wessex, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Swanage Railway and the Honeypot Children’s Charity.

Ellis Jones has offices in Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs (Poole), Ringwood, Swanage and Wimborne as well as London.
