Talbot Village Trust Supports Adult Learners To Gain Education And Employment

Talbot Village Trust has presented EDAS (Essential Drugs & Alcohol Services) with more than £7,000 to purchase educational materials for the charity.

The grant has enabled EDAS to continue delivering their training courses to those who are aiming to get back into employment, education or become a volunteer. The courses available allow service-users to build their confidence, develop their teamwork skills and have a greater understanding of community activities, in order to gain a job or further education. Core maths, English and IT skills are also given an in-depth focus. The new educational materials have enabled EDAS’s students to progress with their learning as they can now do extensive research and produce assignments.

Mindy Bartlett, CEO of EDAS, said: “The grant we received from Talbot Village Trust has been invaluable and will continue to support learners on our courses at EDAS to enhance their future prospects. We have already seen the positive effect that our courses can have on our learners’ wellbeing due to the fact they now have the tools and confidence to succeed. We are so grateful and can’t thank the Trust enough.”

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust, added: “Everyone has the right to an education and we are really proud to have been able to provide EDAS with the funds required to ensure their courses continue to be accessible to all. The training offered is accredited and can lead to learners gaining nationally recognised qualifications which can only help to boost their chances of gaining employment.”

Talbot Village Trust meets biannually, and will be accepting applications for funding from both previous and new applicants in the area before the Trustees meet in the autumn of this year. Please go to www.talbotvillagetrust.org for more information.
