The Oaks, Highcliffe to host ‘SpringFest’ celebrating all things local with May bank holiday extravaganza

A dog-friendly pub in Highcliffe is hosting a bank holiday garden party showcasing a dog photo booth, group dog walk and an array of artisan markets featuring local traders and charities.

The Oaks in Highcliffe, Christchurch, is hosting a bank holiday extravaganza coined ‘SpringFest’ on Saturday 4th May featuring an array of family, and dog, friendly activities to celebrate all things local from 12-9pm.

The pub will also be welcoming their canine customers and their owners to join them for a group dog walk along the seafront at 11am, led by Assistant Manager Timothy Follett, before regrouping back at the pub for a photo or two at the dog photo booth. The first 50 dogs will receive a limited edition embroidered Heartwood bandana.

This community dog walk will continue each month after as a ‘Dogs that Lunch’ event on the last Thursday of every month in conjunction with ‘Lunch Club,’ the pub’s fixed price lunch menu served Monday to Friday from 12-5pm, when diners can enjoy 2 courses for £18.50 or 3 courses for £23.50.

From 12-5pm, the pub will transform their picturesque beach huts and dedicated outside tent area into artisan market stalls showcasing local traders featuring Kate’s Crafty Corner, Redwood Creations, South West Wildlife Fundraising and others. Visitors can also expect talks from local producers including Shanty Spirits and three local live music acts from 12:30pm, including a performance from the Diamond Divas raising money for Macmillan Caring Locally.

The pub is a Heartwood Inn, which last month won ‘Best Managed Pub Group (up to 50 sites)’ and ‘Best Operations Team’ at the prestigious Publican Awards 2024.

Alongside the day’s events, guests will also be able to enjoy Heartwood’s seasonally-changing menu which is developed in line with the group’s ethos for delivering sustainable, fresh food, having attained the top 3 star rating from The Sustainable Restaurant Association.

The Oaks also has a whole host of weekly reasons to visit, from Happy Hour every weekday from 5-7pm, their weekday Lunch Club set menu (12-5pm, two courses for £18.50), Wednesday Steak Nights and Sunday roasts with bottomless trimmings.
