University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity funds buggies for patient transport

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity is proud to have funded the purchase of two electric buggies that are busy transporting patients from A to B across the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Construction work is well underway at the hospital to transform the existing site into a state-of-the-art facility with an enhanced emergency department and critical care unit that will see it become the major emergency hospital for Dorset.

Whilst this work takes place, travelling from one end of the hospital to the other can be quite a distance for patients attending vital appointments and visitors coming to spend valuable time with their loved ones. The aim of our new buggies is to make this as worry-free an experience as possible for them and ensure our hospital remains accessible to all.

The buggies are driven by our wonderful team of volunteers who are on hand to assist with directions.

We were thrilled to receive sponsorship for one of our buggies from local construction company Westmade Ltd. Our corporate fundraisers recently met with Director and Quantity Surveyor, Allen Gilbert-Stroud and some of the Westmade team who came down to see their buggy in action, safely transporting patients around the hospital site. We are so pleased to be partnered with Westmade Ltd in the funding of one of these buggies and are proud to display their logo on the buggy alongside our own.

If you are interested in funding our second buggy, please call 0300 019 8449 or email uhd.charity@uhd.nhs.uk for more information.
