Yellow Buses – the gift that keeps on giving

Yellow Buses is helping drive the success of the Bournemouth Town Centre Gift Card scheme – by offering a 10 per cent discount on tickets bought by them at its travel shop.

Nearly 100 businesses have signed up the scheme that was launched to increase spending in the town centre.

The Town Centre Gift Cards are bought online where they are uploaded with credit – and can then be used in participating businesses.

Passengers can even arrange to pick up their ordered gift cards from Yellow Buses’ Town Centre Travel Shop.

The shop in the square is a hub for passengers who can find out information, buy tickets and even have a cuppa.

Lucinda Ackerley, Business Liaison Officer at Bournemouth Town Centre BID, said: “Businesses from a wide range of sectors have signed up; from large stores to independent traders, coffee shops, restaurants and leisure venues.

“By buying the gift cards people are supporting our town centre businesses.

“We are delighted that Yellow Buses are offering an added incentive by giving a discount at its travel shop on tickets bought with the cards.

“If the cards are given as Christmas presents then the recipients are likely to use the credit in January when businesses really need the boost.”

Fiona Harwood, Marketing Manager at Yellow Buses, said: “We have been a part of the town centre for more than a century and will help wherever we can.

“Bringing shoppers into town is important not just for us, but for businesses and the town’s economy.

“When people buy a card they can arrange to pick it up from our travel shop, which offers a host of other services.

“We would urge everyone to get behind the scheme – and use the cards to buy your bus tickets.”
