Yellows turn 21

Yellow Buses has introduced a new bus linking Christchurch with Somerford, Burton and Bransgore.

The Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr Lesley Dedman, welcomed the Number 21 service and urged people to use it to help get cars off the road.

The Yellows, which were bought out in the summer by the local management team from its French owners, are also looking at other potential services.

Passengers can now hop on the 21 from 9:30am in Bransgore and it runs weekdays until mid-afternoon.

Cllr Dedman said: “This is a welcome new service and having the BCP Council declare a ‘climate emergency’ means we want to see more bus use and less car use.

“It is encouraging that Yellow Buses is looking at the needs of local residents and we hope this service will be a success.

“Connecting Christchurch with Somerford, Burton and Bransgore will mean a great deal to a lot of people.”

Fiona Harwood from Yellow Buses said: “We know that locals want this service and we have introduced it to see how it goes.

“It might be that in the future we can tweak the timings and add further buses depending on how popular it is.”
