Harry’s on the Road to London

The Dorset Children’s Foundation is supporting the extremely talented Harry Bassett, who is a wheelchair user, in his quest to become a professional trumpet player!

Harry established his love for music at just aged three and has played at events from charity functions to weddings, to festivals and even the Royal Albert Hall! He now has the chance to follow his dreams as he has gained a place at Trinity in London.

Harry said: ‘Through my work both in Victoria School and local music scene I always encourage people to give anything a try, irrelevant of disability or background – I really do believe you can achieve anything you want in life, you just have to believe in yourself and go for it!

Harry needs some assistance with funding as, for example, he needs to carry several instruments in London to the college. A  “Rio Firefly” would be great as this is a wheel with handle bars and a battery which attaches to his wheelchair converting it into a 3 wheeled electric chair – perfect for the short trip to and from Trinity. Also a multi-instrument case which can accommodate up to 5 instruments, avoiding the use of many bags which would be impossible for him.

To help raise funds Harry is staging ‘On the Road to London’ Music Fundraiser – A music filled evening hosted at Bournemouth Electric Club on Thursday 5th August. The evening will be complete with performances from Siobhan & The Sunset Haze and Mischa & His Merry Men, a two course meal and a raffle containing some top notch prizes!

You’ll be treated to an evening of fantastic music, but you will also be joining Harry in the release of his first ever solo EP, some of which you might just get to hear on the night! Plus a meal which is included in the ticket price.

Patsy Hallmey said: ‘Harry is an extremely talented and inspirational young man and The DCF want to support him and help make his dreams be realised. Disability equipment is so expensive and it would be great to get some help from the local community.’

If you can’t make the event but would still like to show your support, a donation via my Virgin Money page: Harry’s on the Road to London, would be very much appreciated.
