Chance to travel across the region for less on World Car Free Day

Morebus is marking World Car Free Day – Friday 22 September – by offering discounted travel for those using its app for the first time.

The move is part of the operator’s commitment to helping more people use sustainable transport in-and-around Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.  And World Car Free Day is an initiative aimed at easing congestion, as well as improving air quality by promoting sustainable transport to motorists as alternative methods of travel.

“At Morebus, we welcome any initiative designed to reduce the harmful effects exhaust emissions have on the environment,” said Andrew Wickham, Morebus managing director.

“Many buses in our fleet are the newest and cleanest in the region – including our latest acquisition of 49 new buses, which have begun to arrive here. This investment is worth more than £13.5m, with each of the vehicles sporting the latest Euro 6 low emissions engine – the newest and cleanest standard for diesel. They are British-built ADL Enviro 400 double deckers, and they cement our commitment to lowering emissions across the region.

“The buses also have a striking new look on-board – with a more comfortable and spacious seating layout, and lighter flooring. The upper deck is laid out in a similar way to a coach, and there is a ‘stop’ button on the back of every other seat.

“World Car Free Day ties in perfectly with what we are trying to achieve here in Dorset. Buses provide the perfect and affordable solution to reducing air pollution, so we’re proud to have invested millions of pounds in improving the comfort and reliability of our services here.”

Morebus is offering 15 percent off an adult Dayrider ticket on Friday 22 September, if customers are using the operator’s app for the first time.

To take advantage of the offer, people should use the code CARFREE when they buy their tickets on either app for the first time. As well as being useful for getting tickets, the apps offer a range of other useful features – including a tool that tracks any bus on a map in real time.
