Intergage’s £1,209 Support For MyTIME’s Young Carers

Young carers from across the UK will enjoy better adventure breaks in Dorset thanks to a £1,209 donation from B2B marketing agency Intergage.

Poole-based Intergage held charity bake-offs and donated money from company profits to support the MyTIME charity for young carers.

MyTIME is carrying out a series of improvements to its Worth Matravers adventure centre. It needs new flooring, a new kitchen and a new storage area for outdoor activities equipment.

MyTIME Community Partnership Director Joanne Barker said: “We are very grateful for all the support. A charity like this takes time to come to fruition and now it’s happening.”

Intergage Managing Director Paul Tansey said: “There are a lot of young carers who feel isolated and even depressed as they combine caring for their loved one with the relentless pressures of education – leaving little or no time left over for them.

“We hope to demonstrate to these young people that society recognises and appreciates their heroic service to others,” added Mr Tansey, who is also president of Dorset Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

There could be as many as 800,000 young carers in England alone, according to a report by the University of Notttingham earlier this month.

MyTIME was created to give the youngsters holiday breaks based on “friendship, fun and free time”. Activities include:

  • high ropes training at Brenscombe Outdoor Centre near Corfe Castle
  • kayaking off Swanage with the Land & Wave adventure activities team
  • pizza making.

MyTIME’s other activities for young carers include archery, bushcraft, raft building, paddle boarding, coastal walks, craft activities and visits to local leisure attractions.
