Make a Difference 2020

Dorset charity looking for volunteers to help with frontline services.

Sexual Trauma and Recovery Service (STARS Dorset) is looking for volunteers to help deliver a variety of frontline services for the charity across Dorset throughout 2020. The roles they are looking for include: Helpline Listeners, Counsellors, Admin Support and Events Volunteers.
STARS Dorset is a pan-Dorset charity that offers one to one support, free of charge, for anyone of any age or gender who lives, works or studies in Dorset and has experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their life. The charity offers a telephone helpline service, a one to one counselling service, an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor service and they also have a dedicated Children and Young People team. All their services are free and for that reason they rely heavily on donations and the generosity of time from volunteers. Last year the charity supported over 1000 people across the county.

The charity is looking for counsellors to join its award winning counselling team. Helpline listeners to provide confidential listening support. Administrators to cover a variety of office-based duties from data inputting to event planning support and Events volunteers are also needed to help support a wide range of events for 2020.

STARS Dorset have also recently achieved the Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard, recognising the excellent work they do with volunteers. The charity was assessed against a range of best practice standards and proved to excel in all aspects of working with its volunteers.
If you are thinking about volunteering in 2020 and any of these roles sound as though they might be of interest then please do get in touch with the charity’s volunteer co-ordinator Simone Gosden by phoning 01202 308848 or visiting their website for further information www.starsdorset.org/why-volunteer
