YMCA Bournemouth Sleep Easy – Could You Sleep Rough So Others Don’t Have To?

This March, YMCA Bournemouth (YMCAB) is launching another year of its popular Sleep Easy fundraising events, supported by businesses, schools and groups who will “sleep rough for one night, so others don’t have to”. The YMCAB Sleep Easy raises thousands of pounds annually, offering hope to local people who are affected by homelessness, as well as creating an understanding of what it is really like to sleep rough for those taking part.

The concept has proven very popular in local schools and businesses; over 15 local schools have signed up to hold their own School Sleep Easy events in their grounds, whilst the annual Big Sleep Easy event will take place on 15th October at Talbot Heath School.
Registration is now open and YMCAB is inviting businesses, groups and individuals to join them as they once again bed down under the stars for the night. Sheena Dayman, Events Manager, YMCAB explains:One night can make a lifetime of difference. We are hoping as many people will join us as possible and make a difference to vulnerable people locally.”

Confirmed sponsors so far this year include
Lester Aldridge, Store & Secure, Biz Space, Forerunner, Paul Collins Photography, the Green House Hotel and SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK. We are also delighted to welcome a team from Dorset Chamber who will be taking part in the event on October.

Lester Aldridge Partner, Mark Benham commented, “I’m extremely proud that Lester Aldridge continues to support such an important charity, which provides local services and projects that give children, young people and vulnerable individuals hope for a better future.”

YMCAB are delighted to announce the support of Suez Recycling and Recovery UK, who have joined YMCAB as a new sponsor for 2022. James Pike, SUEZ Regional Director commented: “At SUEZ, valuing the people and communities we serve is at the core of what we do, which is why we are proud to support this year’s Big Sleep Easy event. Everyone deserves a safe place to call home, and we hope by partnering with YMCAB we can combine forces to tackle homelessness.”

The YMCA helped 174 local people to rebuild their lives after homelessness in 2021. To be able to continue this vital work, they need support of local businesses and schools. Could you sleep rough, so others don’t have to? Join YMCAB and help make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people locally.
