Nine trainees join Smith & Williamson’s South Coast office

A record number of nine graduate and school leaver trainees have joined the South Coast office of Smith & Williamson, the financial and professional services group. This builds on the seven trainees who joined last year’s programme.

The training contracts give the new trainees hands-on client exposure with a range of industries and business structures immediately after joining. They also benefit from a robust support structure through a formal mentoring programme while they study for their Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Association of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW ACA), Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) professional qualifications. This helps the trainees to immediately have an affinity with the culture at Smith & Williamson and become valuable additions to the team from day one.

Andrew Edmonds, Managing Partner at Smith & Williamson’s South Coast office in Southampton said: “We are delighted to welcome our new trainees who join our Audit Business Services, Business Tax Services and Private Client Tax Services teams. We are recruiting at a time when the UK is in recession and recognise that as our new team members develop into their longer-term roles, they will each play an important part in the growth and success of the firm.”

Andrew added: “It is really rewarding to see young people who choose to continue their careers at Smith & Williamson after completing their training contracts and climb the ladder and progress to the top of their profession. I feel proud of the way that everyone in the Southampton office plays their part in supporting them on their journey.”

The new trainees joining the South Coast office are Hollie Bickle, Nathan Tuffley, Oliver Tivey, Benjamin Czura, Freya Green, James Mullane, Olivia Bishop, Emily Burns and Edward Lee.

Just under 100 people, including nine partners and directors, are based at the South Coast office of Smith & Williamson.
